Thirukachur – one might mistake this to be Kanchipuram. No this Thirukachur is near Singaperumal Koil and autos charge about 150 for to and back. Just like Kanchipuram was an important place in Sundarars life where he was given one eye, Thriukachur is the place where to feed the hungry Sundararmurthy Nayanar, Shiva himself in disguise of Brahmin seeks Bhiksha to feed his devotee.
There are two temples in ThiruKachur. The main is the Kachabeshwarar temple. Sundarar sings a pathigam(10songs)- on Shiva here. He sings another two songs on the Oushadeshwarar or Marundeshwarar.
There is a connection between Thiruvanmiyur and Oushadeshwarar and Kachabeshwarar of ThiruKachur. Both are Oushadeshwarar/Marundeeshwarar. They have been worshipped by Agastya the main disciple of Shiva himself – the Maha Siddha.
There are 7 temples in erstwhile Thanjavur dist known as Sapta Vidanga Kshetra where Muchukunda had done Pratishta of original as well as duplicate Thyagaraja Swamy he got from Indra as per legend.
Outside of that, there are two Thyagaraja swamy temples. One is at Thiruvanmiyur and another is Kachabeshwarar temple at Thirukachur.
This is real real remote village and appropriate to call as Kuk gramam as they call in Tamil. Safe time to visit is probably around 5pm in evening .
Tidbit : Oushadeshwarar temple has probably the rare Chaturmukha Chandikeshwarar. Four face chandikeshwara.
There is a samadhi near by of a siddha who renovated this temple longg back
Today was Kumbabhishekam of Oushadeshwarar.
